Tips to get and stay active

Family walking dog photoThere are many ways of being active, and each of us will come up with our own “formula” on how to how to ensure 30 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity every day. Here are some tips that seem to work for most people, regardless of which activities you choose:

  • Pick activities that you like and that fit easily into your daily routine
  • Work out what time is best for you and try hard to stick to it
  • Be active with friends and family
  • When you drive somewhere, try parking farther away. Leave the parking spaces closest to the door for people who haven’t made active living a goal. Add extra steps to your day by finding the parking spot furthest from the door.

Walk the dog. Don’t have a dog?  Borrow one, or consider getting one. Dog owners walk more (and have more fun too!).
