Lack of time

Life today is very busy – and most of us can’t add one more thing to our busy schedules. A better option is to look at how we spend our time, and where we can “swap” one activity for another.

If you are like most Canadians, you spend a lot of time in front of a screen.  The average Canadian spends about 18 hours each week on line on their home computer, and another 17 watching TV. Some of this time could be spent being physically active, preparing home cooked meals, or having fun with friends and family – all of which are good for our well-being.

If the amount of screen time seems high, it may be because we lose track of time when we are in front of a screen. The best way of seeing how much time you actually spend is to keep track of it over a couple of weeks. Here is a simple tracking tool that you can use to see just how much time you might have to “swap.”
